Sams and Stoick donate books to every public elementary school in Michigan to celebrate ‘March is Reading Month’
Elementary school libraries in Michigan from Ironwood to Monroe – 3,072 in all – will get copies of Lost in the Woods, the New York Times best-selling children’s book by Michigan authors Carl R. Sams II and Jean Stoick. The couple is partnering with Senator Jason Allen (Traverse City) to provide copies of their book to public elementary schools throughout the state in celebration of ‘March is Reading Month’. Senator Patty Birkholz and Representative Rick Jones are also participating.

Best-selling authors, Carl R. Sams II and Jean Stoick put their bustling book business on hold this week to hand-print 400 t-shirts. They will donate the shirts to help protect pristine streams and groundwater in the unspoiled Yellow Dog plains from proposed sulfide mining that could permanently desecrate the environment and harm area wildlife.

A husband-and-wife team takes their photography to the best-seller’s list

Professional wildlife photographers Carl Sams and Jean Stoick were in their home studio editing images for their coffee-table book on white-tailed deer. Of the thousands of photographs this husband-and-wife team had accumulated over a decade of shooting together, they could select only 140 for the book. One image that wasn’t making the cut suddenly sparked an idea.
