Scientists are putting out hair snags and remote cameras to obtain possible evidence. This is very exciting news! From what I’ve read in the past about brown bear habitat, the thoughts [...]

Scientists are putting out hair snags and remote cameras to obtain possible evidence.

This is very exciting news! From what I’ve read in the past about brown bear habitat, the thoughts were that grizzly bears were limited to Alaska and remote wildnerss regions in and around Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming and Montana. I’ve heard reports of possible grizzly habitat in northern Idaho, but never Washington.

You can learn more by reading “Scientists seek proof of N. Cascades grizzlies” in seattlepi.com. Bill Gaines, wildlife biologist for the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, is quoted in the article, saying, “We think there’s a few bears wandering around out there, but it’s probably very few.”

Let’s hope they locate evidence of some.
