Here’s updated news about bears based on two stories we’ve been writing about:

1. Reward Offered in Bear Cub Killing in National Park
The Humane Society of the United States and The Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust are offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for illegally killing a black bear cub in Prince William Forest Park in Triangle, Virginia.

2. Lily the black bear update
Now you can watch Lilly the black bear in her den! Lily is a three-year-old wild black bear who is part of Dr. Rogers’ long-term study of black bear ecology and behavior at the Wildlife Research Institute.

On January 8, 2010, Dr. Rogers installed a live video camera in Lily’s winter den near Ely, Minnesota, so the public could share in the birth and care of her cub. This year Lily entered the den pregnant and now have new cubs!
