Here’s an interesting story about a black bear breaking into a car in Colorado and taking an unexpected joyride. I learned about this story in the BBC, “US bear takes short ride in car and leaves it wrecked“.
It seems the bear entered the car because it had a sandwich in the back seat. Once inside, the bear accidentally hit the automatic transmission shift lever, shifting into neutral and sending the car shooting down a hill with the bear trapped inside. The bear even hit the horn and flashers!
In the article, Colorado wildlife expert Tyler Baskfield said bears often entered cars and houses in search of food. “It happens all the time,” he said. “They’re very smart.”
