The Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge is the new home for a dozen birds rescued in Louisiana, victims of the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
In the article, “Birds rescued from oil released into safety of Merritt Island refuge“, Dorn Whitmore, supervisory park ranger, said, “It was a feel-good moment. We’ve seen the images of these oil birds and it does feel good to see them fly again and being released into the wild.”
According to the article, the birds spent weeks in recovery after being cleaned of oil that coated their bodies. They arrived from Louisiana aboard a U.S. Coast Guard airplane, escorted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
BP Buying Search Terms
In separate news, BP is buying search terms. Be aware of this if you search the Internet for information on wildlife affected from the BP oil spill.
I think it’s always better to get information from an independent source. One easy way to spot paid ads on Google is to look for the term “Sponsored link” near the link. The link is usually highlighted and is the number one link at the very top of the search engine results page.
