Good Advice
From the article comments, Claireee suggests (edited to fit post): “DO NOT GO DOWN THERE unless you are trained. Do not take a paid position. People in the region need the jobs.
Just because you might not be able to get there in person doesn’t mean you can’t help. Volunteer at your local wildlife shelter to take up the slack of trained individuals leaving for the gulf, or who want to go but can’t find anyone to cover their shift.
Sponsor a Volunteer
Donate a gift certificate or gas card. If you have a coworker who needs to get off of work to volunteer, cover their shifts.”
