Saving Pete the moose

According to the article, “In Vermont, Making a Stand for Pete the Moose”,  in The New York Times, Pete likes jelly doughnuts, people, bananas and, most of all, David Lawrence, a former farmer who speaks to him each day and considers him “my son.”

In June, a couple brought Pete, a 500-pound moose, to an elk farm Mr. Lawrence helps run. He’s been raising Pete ever since. Pete was about one month old when he was brought to the farm after being attacked by dogs. Mr. Lawrence nursed him back to health.

Pete has become the poster moose in a dispute between the State of Vermont, Mr. Lawrence and Doug Nelson, who owns the elk farm. Learn more
