According to the article “U.S. Court Rules Yellowstone Grizzlies Are ‘Threatened’ “ in The New York Times, a federal court on Monday reversed a 2007 decision by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to remove the population of grizzly bears in and around Yellowstone National Park from its list of “threatened” species, a designation that had entitled the bears to special protections under the Endangered Species Act.
It’s an article worth reading. I know large tracts of undisturbed grizzly bear habitat are critical for this species to survive. As mentioned in the article, a recovery plan that takes into account possible threats will go a long way in protecting grizzlies.
